BMO Bank

Project Description

I was brought on by the team at Critical Mass for a "new to bank" project with Bank of Montreal to launch a new service to allow consumers to apply & open a bank account online only. Prior to this launch, the bank allowed consumers to start the application online, but had to go into a branch to validate their ID and sign the paperwork in order to finish the process.

The project was produced in partnership with a team from IBM on the infrastructure and development side, BMO for processes, legal and IT and Critical Mass for the design & UX. The entire team was co-located within an office space in the Bank of Montreal office for about 5 months.

I worked alongside a UX lead, UI designer and a researcher throughout the process of technical discovery, ideation, rapid prototyping in agile sprints and user validation. It was my first exposure into a pure Agile process, where we sat down as a team and mapped out epics, crafted sprints around story points and took away many learnings about how Agile can have pitfalls when it comes to designing & developing at the same time.
